MASSAC CO., Ill.—The shutdown of the U.S. 45 Ohio River for a period of time this evening is being reported as a response to a shooting in Brookport.
Local sources have reported to Disclosure that while the bridge has now been re-opened, the closure had to do with a “police emergency” that prompted shutdown of major thoroughfares in the area until it could be determined where the alleged shooter and victim are.
The incident, these sources advise, is still an active one.
They have reported that a man in his 60s-70s is alleged to have shot another man on Main Street in the vicinity of the school in Brookport. Currently (at last check, which was about 6:15 p.m.), the alleged shooter is “holed up” in a residence not far from the scene of the alleged shooting. Authorities, it’s been reported, have gone to the older man’s sister in order get assistance in “talking him out” of the residence.
If we get more, we’ll bring it; keep checking back.
