MARION, Ill.—A fire late Friday night has claimed the life of a 4-year-old Marion girl.
Marion Fire Department was called to a location on the 300 block of South Second street last night (Friday, December 12, 2014) at 11:09 pm. There were four people inside at the time the fire started. One was injured and taken to Heartland Medical. Authorities have not released details, such as names and ages, of those who were present. However, they did mention that there was one deceased, that being the little girl. Whether she was trapped in the fire or in the confusion of everyone trying to get out remains unknown at this time.
Two firefighters were also injured. Firemen were on the scene until 5:15 this morning.
The fire is not considered suspicious and is being investigated by the state fire marshal.
