SALINE CO., Ill.—Illinois State Police have released formal information following the early-morning wreck today on Harco Road just south of Mt. Moriah Road in Saline County.
The accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. this morning (Saturday, November 29, 2014), which corrects the earlier reported information about the time the accident was thought to have occurred.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigative details, the driver of a black 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, Kyle W. Eichorn, age 18, of Golconda, was southbound on Harco Road in rural Saline County, just south of Mt. Moriah Road. The vehicle proceeded to leave the west side of the roadway before striking a guard rail. The vehicle then came into the north bound lane of travel and was struck by a white 2015 Western Star truck tractor semi-trailer combination being driven by an unidentified 51-year-old male.
Both driver and the 18-year-old unnamed passenger, said to also be of Golconda (which corrects earlier information that he was from Marion) of the Chevrolet Cruze were flown by Air-Evac to Deaconess Hospital for the treatment of their injuries.
The road was closed for several hours following the wreck, but both lanes of Harco Road are open at this time.
Bishop’s Towing (Harrisburg) and Vernell’s Towing (Marion) removed the vehicles from the crash scene.
ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Saline County EMS, Carrier Mills Fire Department, and Galatia Fire Department.
No charges have been filed pending investigation.
