HARDIN CO., Ill.—After multiple drunk driving accidents in and around Hardin County that have either seriously injured or taken the lives of a number of underage kids, you might think that some of them would learn, but apparently, that’s not the case with the area’s youth who believe that because of their heritage, they’re somehow entitled, and immune.

Evidence: Kyle Wayne Eichorn, son of former county board member Wayne Eichorn.

Young Mr. Eichorn, who lists his age on his Facebook page as 22 but in reality MIGHT be 19 (we were thinking it was closer to 18, as three years ago we were covering his antics in Pope County when he made a bomb threat and closed the school there, this at age 15), was apparently partying down last night with his buddies.

In a wreck that closed Harco Road this morning near Galatia in Saline County (announced at about 7:30 a.m.; actual time of the wreck is unknown yet), Eichorn has been seriously injured following a collision with a coal truck. According to those working the scene (which is currently being handled by Illinois State Police), it’s been determined so far that a vehicle Eichorn was in (whether he was behind the wheel or not is unknown at this time) bounced off a guard rail into the path of the coal truck; it’s being reported that both his legs are broken, and that he’s suffering numerous other injuries.

Eichorn has been flown to Deaconess in Evansville; a passenger, reported to be Nick Vincelette of Marion (age unknown as yet), has also been flown to Evansville. Harco Road has been closed while ISP is working the scene. It’s unknown whether alcohol or another substance was a factor in the crash.

We’re awaiting word from ISP on the outcome; keep checking back.
