MARION, Ill.—Authorities are advising that a wreck occurring at about 11:30 this morning in Marion may have been due to the driver having a seizure.
The driver, eastbound on Illinois Route 13 through Marion, struck a car near Interstate 57, this after police received a report about a motorist weaving in and out of traffic and driving erratically.
After striking the car near 57, the driver continued eastbound and hit another car at a subsequent intersection.
Upon talking to the driver, authorities made a tentative conclusion that he might have had a seizure, as tests showed that his sugar was very low, and the man is a diagnosed diabetic.
Authorities working the accident said that it “could have been worse,” citing the fact that there’s a deep ditch nearby where the collisions occurred, and any of the motorists could have gone down into it at any point during the incident.
Our sources at the scene sent us these images. As far as we know, everybody involved in the wreck is going to be okay. More as we get it.
