grand jury, indictment

SALINE CO., Ill.—Saline County State’s Attorney Mike Henshaw held a brief press conference this morning in the small courtroom at the Saline County Detention Center, announcing the recent round of grand jury indictments.

Those were issued yesterday for the most part; authorities are still searching for some of the indictees.

We were told this morning that nine of the indictments came from a six-month investigation into activities going on all at the same housing project in Eldorado. This housing location was described more as a “den of drug use activity” than a “drug ring.”

Because not all of the indictees are in custody, authorities want those under indictment to know they are being sought and that “drugs and dealing at public housing in Saline won’t be tolerated.”

Here are the indictees and their charges; we are understanding that some of this has to do with heroin, and when we learn just what’s what, we’ll bring it in a separate post:

Tavis F. Davis, Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Class 2 felony) and two counts Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance While within Residential Property Owned by a Public Housing Agency (Class 1 felony).

Phillip K. Morrison, two counts Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Class 2 felony).
