WILLIAMSON CO., Ill.—The deadline for registering to vote for the November 4, 2014, General Election is October 7, 2014, Williamson County Clerk, Amanda Barnes announced today.
ALL PERSONS MAY REGISTER TO VOTE who are citizens of the United States, and will be 18 years of age on or before November 4, 2014, GENERAL ELECTION DAY, and will have resided in the State of Illinois and in the precinct for 30 days prior to the date of the GENERAL ELECTION.
If your latest Voter’s Identification Card does not reflect your current NAME, you must RE-REGISTER or if you have moved you must change your address for voter registration in order tobe eligible for a full ballot.
Anyone who misses the October 7 deadline may register to vote or change their address during Grace Period Registration.
For this election Grace Period Registration has been extended until the polls close on Election Day in my office, it runs from October 8th through November 4th. This is not same day voting meaning you will not be able to register to vote or change your address at the polling place on Election Day.
The law requires that during Grace Period Registration people must register at the county clerk’s office and – if they desire to vote in the General Election – must vote at that time. Those people are not allowed to vote at a polling place on Election Day. Illinois residents may check their registration online by going to www.williamsoncountyil.gov and clicking on the County Clerk & Recorder’s page “Elections” and then “Check My Registration.”
The County Clerk’s office is located in the Administrative Building, 407 N. Monroe St, Suite 119, Marion. Please call (618) 998-2112 if you have any questions.
