SALINE CO., Ill.—Authorities this evening are looking for a young man who’s been in trouble in Saline County over various infractions over the last few years.

Ian Hamilton, 20, of Harrisburg, stands accused of two incidents of violence, one of which occurred in Harrisburg earlier this morning, and over which he’s facing serious charges in Saline County circuit court. Regular readers will remember Hamilton from an incident in April 2013, which is still going through the court system itself.

Hamilton is accused of Attempted First Degree Murder when, early this morning, he performed a substantial step toward the commission of that offense by shooting Starlon D. Davis, this occurring near Casey’s in Harrisburg.

A second count of the same charge was leveled against him for actions taken against one Tamar L. Williams, whom Hamilton is accused of pulling a trigger on with the same weapon. The handgun had run out of bullets, and nothing fired, but the charge still stands because of “attempting to shoot” Williams, “knowing such act created a strong probability of death or great bodily harm” to Williams.

Authorities advise Disclosure that Williams was holding a baby in her arms when Hamilton attempted to fire upon both her and the child.

The whole thing was precipitated by an alleged robbery of the couple. Authorities are charging Hamilton with one count of Armed Robbery after they allege Hamilton took Davis’ wallet from him by use of force and during the commission of the offense, discharged the firearm and shot Davis.

Authorities are also intent on charging a fourth count against Hamilton, that of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, this to be filed in the morning (09.25.14)

Further, an armed robbery that occurred on Monday night at the 300 block of West South Street in Harrisburg, in which Nathan Ricketts was held up at gunpoint and robbed, is under investigation and authorities are stating they believe the perpetrator was Hamilton; they have not indicated what it is that causes them to believe that other than perhaps Ricketts’ description of Hamilton.

But currently, authorities are saying that Hamilton is still on the run, is presumed armed and dangerous, and are urging the public to call their local police department rather than try and apprehend him if they see him. Hamilton is sought on a half-million dollar bail ($50,000 cash bond).
