It is a well-established fact that criminals are dumb. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be criminals (necessarily, anyway; we do know quite a few neanderthals that don’t have a criminal record…yet).
But sometimes, they’re disproportionately dumb. And Facebook and other social networking sites add another level of the disproportionate part.
Why do people take no shame in their criminal actions anymore? There seems to be no social stigma attached to crime; it’s like a badge of honor. There apparently isn’t enough deterrent to keep stupid crims from publicizing their idiocy…and a social acceptance these days the likes of a Cyril Kornbluth short story. Those of us who think differently, who obey and respect the law (and understand the expense of criminal behavior to the taxpayers) are now no longer normal. We’re the outsiders; we’re the odd ones. The criminal stupid are the ones who are celebrated…and celebrate their reduced mental process with very public postings online.
