SOUTHERN ILLINOIS—The man who was the subject of major law enforcement operations last night across several counties has yet to be found.
However, reports indicate that the word is out that Tyree Neal is considered armed and dangerous, and is currently a wanted man.
Neal, 27, seems to be a lifetime member of the crim club in Saline, Williamson and Jackson counties. In Jackson, Neal became a little crim early on with this cocaine arrest and conviction, although earlier arrests there on MUCH more serious charges were integral in showing a predilection for violence. In Saline, he seems to have had a problem with driving issues (revoked/suspended, and alcohol) as well as battery and weapons arrests. You’ll notice at the links that with the exception of this one, everything else was nolle prossed (no follow through on prosecution.)
A glance at Williamson County might explain that.
Since 2004, Neal has been involved in every conceivable charge a little crim can get involved in: Arrests for Aggravated Battery, Unauthorized Title of a Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Fleeing Police also went nowhere and were nolle prossed out, some due to pleas in other crimes. But in 2007, the much more serious arrests—these for Controlled Substances—began. Currently, Neal is set for a jury trial in a cocaine case, which is, as we have reported previously, the drug of choice among the bigwigs in and around Williamson (they have to get the stuff from someone, right? It doesn’t grow on trees around here.) Herein lies the crux of the matter…because usually a cocaine distributor doesn’t get busted unless he runs afoul of someone in the hierarchy. Whom did he run afoul of? Good question. Apparently, Neal knows. And that might be why he’s taken some of the alleged actions he has….which would include running as soon as the law catches up to him, which is what he’s accused of doing yesterday following an alleged armed carjacking and attempting to run over an officer in Marion.
Neal, listing a Carbondale address, also has pending in Williamson County a DUI. So he’s a well-rounded crim, and knows that it’s just a matter of time before the law catches up with him. In the meantime, authorities are asking for the public to keep a watchful eye out for him. A press release from Illinois State Police District 13 out of DuQuoin states:
Tyree Neal Jr, 27, is described as 5 foot 8 inches, 150 pounds with short black hair and gold teeth.
Neal is considered armed and dangerous.
Neal was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and was on foot in the New Burnside area. He is currently being sought in connection with a vehicular carjacking, ramming a squad car, aggravated fleeing and eluding police. Neal also has outstanding warrants.
Anyone with any information regarding Neal’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Illinois State Police District 13 communications center at 618-542-2171
There have been no updates as of today. Keep an eye out, southern Illinois.
