UPDATE 12:45 p.m.: The wreck occurred right on the bridge that crosses the Big Muddy Creek on Highway 50. Traffic is clearing up on the east side of the wreck, but still is congested on the west side of the bridge. According to Olney fire chief Rusty Holmes told Disclosure staff that a white Chevrolet SUV going westbound and a semi going eastbound hit each other head on.
Noble Fire Department called the Olney Fire Department for mutual aid. Life light was also called and multiple occupants were transported to an area hospital.
Personnel that was on scene included; Illinois State Police, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Andy Hires, Olney Fire Department, Noble Fire Department and Ambulance personnel responded.
RICHLAND CO.–The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is currently on scene at the Clay and Richland County line due to a serious wreck that has occurred this morning Aug. 26. Dispatch told Disclosure that Highway 50 will be closed for a few hours.
