CRAWFORD CO., Ill.—There’s been an arrest made in the burglary of a Flat Rock home, where last week the body of an elderly man was found and a homicide investigation was begun.
However, according to authorities, the burglary investigation and homicide investigation are two different things altogether.
Last week, a burglary was reported regarding the residence of Aaron England; this location is 3903 North Highway 1, outside of Flat Rock. The burglary was said to have happened on August 20; no value has been given by authorities on the items allegedly taken, nor what they were. Aaron England is an over-the-road truck driver according to family members.
Last week, his father, Norman England, 74, was at the residence. On the morning of Thursday, August 21, the elder England’s body was found there. Authorities termed the death “suspicious,” and Illinois State Police were called to the scene and began what was ultimately deemed a homicide investigation.
Today, Crawford authorities advise that one Matthew Miller, 34, has been arrested and charged with the residential burglary reported on the 20th. The charge is a Class 1 felony; his bail is $250,000 ($25,000 cash).
But authorities are not indicating ANYTHING about any connection between the two alleged crimes.
And that has Crawford residents worried.
As of last week, there was no indication of whether the general public had anything to be concerned about as regards their safety. Currently, we’re trying to reach Sheriff Todd Liston in order to get some more specifics on that matter.
We’ll keep you posted as to what the response is.
Miller has only just been arrested, so a court date hasn’t been made available yet.
