HAMILTON CO.–Authorities have confirmed an incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon in McLeansboro that’s left a local man in the hospital, ostensibly the victim of a baseball bat beating.
Officials in McLeansboro advise the incident happened at some point in time between 12:30 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, a fight broke out at 305 W. Carpenter St., McLeansboro, between two men who resided at that location, with one of the men allegedly wielding an aluminum baseball bat.
Terry Morgan, 36, of McLeansboro, was allegedly the ball bat wielder, and is accused of striking George Weingartner, 35 with it repeatedly. Several McLeansboro city police arrived on scene and Weingartner was transported to Deaconess hospital in Evansville, Ind., by helicopter.
Morgan has been charged with Aggravated Battery, a class 3 felony, with a cash bond set in the amount of $10,000, and has been housed in the White County Jail.
A preliminary court hearing has been set for September 4 at 10:30 a.m.
