EDWARDS CO., Ill.—An Arkansas man has been charged in Edwards County after apparently running a scam on a local man.
According to paperwork filed in the case, one Jack Lee Harrison, Sr., 65, was charged August 6 with a single count of Theft (Class 2 felony) and a single count of Intimidation, both of those alleged to have occurred against a local man, Roy Longbons, considered a protected class of citizen since he’s over the age of 60. Both counts stem from acts alleged to have occurred on April 29 of this year.
Documents show that Harrison is alleged to have induced Longbons into “entering into an oral agreement for Harrison to improve Longbons’ driveway” by giving Longbons false information: that Longbons would be charged by the linear foot and not by square foot of the driveway for its improvement. This caused him to allegedly deprive Longbons of $9,900…apparently what it cost to “improve” the driveway.
Under the same cause, Harrison is charged with a Class 3 felony Intimidation count, in which it’s alleged that Harrison communicated a threat in person to inflict physical harm upon Longbons if he didn’t pay up the $9,900.
A warrant for Harrison’s arrest was issued the day the charges were filed and bail set in the amount of $10,000.
