WILLIAMSON/PULASKI COs.—Another high-speed chase has occurred in southern Illinois, with this one ending when the chasee sideswiped a police car and was taken by helicopter to a St. Louis hospital.
Details are scant, but our sources in Pulaski County have advised that a motorcyclist was clocked southbound on Interstate 57 in the Marion area at over 100 mph.
The chase was taken up by law enforcement, and lead down into Pulaski County in deep southern Illinois, with the bike being clocked at that time at speeds reported to have been over 130 mph.
The chase came to an ignominious conclusion when the cycle sideswiped the right side of a squad car at the Mounds exit.
The rider was airlifted out to a hospital in St. Louis.
