WARRANT SCAM REARS ITS UGLY HEAD AGAIN, THIS TIME IN MARION

MARION, Ill.—Marion Police Department has reported a scam is taking place right now within Williamson County.

Reports have been made of people receiving calls from a person claiming to be with “Williamson County Federal Warrant.”

This person is claiming the recipient has a federal warrant and must purchase a Green Dot card to pay their warrant to avoid being arrested.

Authorities are warning that this is a scam, and if you receive this type of call, DO NOT give out personal, credit card or banking information over the phone.
