JACKSON CO.— A Marion man and SIU assistant football coach has been identified as the individual who perished in a fiery crash Monday, June 9.
According to officials, Cory Lee Warren, 26, of Marion, formerly of Uniontown, Kan., was driving a 2012 Dodge, university-owned, minivan when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve and ran off the road striking a tree and burst into flames.
The crash was discovered the next day, Tuesday, June 10 at 11 a.m. by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
Thomas Kupferer, county coroner, identified Warren in an autopsy Wednesday, June 11.
The exact cause of death is said to be pending.
