Kindra Eickelman, 46, of Benton, resigned this past Thursday, June 12, from her position in the Franklin County Circuit Clerk’s office, following a brief investigation into missing funds. Reportedly, as she was leaving the office, she told a fellow employee that she’d “taken money” and that was the reason for the resignation.

Eickelman had held the job for about the last three years.

Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones had been apprised of the situation; his department will be receiving assistance from Illinois’ Attorney General’s office, as requested by Jones this week.

The Illinois Attorney General’s office has become more involved with situations like this as the plague of both alleged and convicted public employees continues to grow.

Eickelman was arrested yesterday, posted bond and was released; however, public records online aren’t available yet to show how much money was posted, as well as what a next court appearance will be.
