WILLIAMSON CO., Ill.—There’s been a resolution to a years-old murder case in Williamson County.
Cindy Stearns, 54, was found guilty of first degree murder in a jury trial that ended today. She was charged with shooting her father, Charles James, 73, of Herrin in 2011.
Already serving sentences for James’ death are 18-year-old Joshua Dallacosta, who previously was found guilty and was sentenced last October to 45 years in DOC. His mother, Kate Bodie, 38, is serving a 50-year sentence for her guilty plea to First Degree Murder, in prison since late 2012.
Bodie, Stearns’ daughter-in-law, had earlier testified that Stearns approached her about the plot because Stearns was concerned James would replace Stearns in his will. During that testimony, Stearns was seen shaking her head.
Sentencing for Stearns has been scheduled for July 18.
