WHITE CO., Ill.—A motorcycle wreck in White County last night sent the operator to the hospital, and resulted in multiple citations for him as well.
The wreck occurred last night (Sunday, May 5, 2014), at approximately 8:30 p.m. in Herald Blacktop just north of CR 945N.
There, Mathew W. Roberts, age 30, of Norris City, operating a red 2007 Honda Sport Bike (motorcycle) was travelling northbound when he attempted to negotiate a curve, lost control, and left the roadway, this according to Illinois State Police reports. ISP also stated that the preliminary investigative details indicate speed may have been a contributing cause of the crash.
Roberts was flown from the scene by Life Flight to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Roberts was not wearing a helmet during the time of the crash.
Cherry Street Automotive of Carmi, Illinois, removed the motorcycle from the crash scene.
The Illinois State Police was assisted at the traffic crash scene by the White County Ambulance Service and Cherry Street Automotive.
Roberts was cited for Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and No Insurance.
