GALLATIN CO., Ill.—A two-vehicle head-on collision has resulted in a citation for one driver, and hospitalization for everyone involved.
Illinois State Police were called to work the crash yesterday (Sunday, April 21 20, 2014) which occurred on Illinois Route 1, approximately a half-mile north of Eagle Creek Lane in Gallatin County at 1:33 p.m.
The preliminary traffic crash investigation indicated that John F. Porter, 63, of LaSalle, Illinois, driver of a white 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling northbound on Route 1, at that location at that time. Trent A. Duncan, 26, of Carrier Mills, driver of a red Ford Escape, was traveling southbound on 1 when he crossed over the centerline and into the northbound lane, striking Porter’s vehicle.
John Porter had to be extricated from his vehicle and air lifted with non-life threatening injuries to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Elizabeth Porter, a passenger in Porter’s vehicle; and Duncan, along with his passengers Jessica Santana and a three-year-old, were all transported to Harrisburg Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Occupants in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
Trenton Duncan was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
The Illinois State Police was assisted at the crash scene by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department, Shawneetown Police Department, Shawneetown Fire Department, Med force Ambulance and the Saline County Ambulance.
