FORT MYERS, FL - Deputies arrested a Fort Myers man accused of running over two women on Palm Beach Boulevard Thursday morning.
Investigators say the incident began at the 7-Eleven on Kingston Drive just after 8:30 a.m. when deputies received a call about a disturbance.
Deputies arrived to find Kristee Barres, 52, and Lorraine McDaniel, 33, had been struck by a white P T Cruiser, which had fled the scene. Both women were transported to the trauma center of Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
As deputies spoke to witnesses, the suspect vehicle returned to the scene and the driver was identified as 28-year-old Eric Noel Montez, of Fort Myers.
Preliminary details revealed Montez was driving his 7-year-old daughter to school when he passed a jogger on Kingston Drive. The man tapped the P T Cruiser as it came dangerously close to him, deputies say.
Montez stopped his vehicle, exited it and ran after the jogger. Deputies say he punched the man in the face numerous times.
Barres and McDaniel saw Montez beating the man and approached telling him to stop and they were calling the police.
