RACINE — A northern Illinois man shuffled into a basement-level courtroom on Wednesday, his head turned down, before Racine County’s top prosecutor said “this is an individual that’s hid from the law for 17 years.”
Bond was set at $500,000 for James P. Eaton, 36, of Palatine, who is accused of killing a 14-year-old girl in 1997 and leaving her body in a Town of Burlington wildlife preserve.
Eaton allegedly killed Amber Creek, also of Palatine, Ill., more than 17 years ago. She was beaten, sexually assaulted and left in the Karcher Wildlife Area, in the 31000 block of Karcher Road, in the Town of Burlington.
