The bad weather is behind us and we may not be in for anything further for at least several days. Tonight there’s a cold front expected to move through, so pull out the long johns….and if you have any to spare, bear in mind there are people in the Gaskins City area of Harrisburg who don’t have much, if any, clothes at all right now except what they were wearing when the tornado hit, so if you have any spare long johns, there are several places that are accepting donations.
As regards last night’s report of the freaks from the Westboro Baptist Church coming to Harrisburg to protest the funerals of those killed in the storm, that remains merely an IMPLICATION at this time. The WBC freaks have not stated a definitive trip to tha ‘burg; they’re only hinting that that’s what they’d LIKE to do. However, Harrisburg is ready, just in case. Two groups have formed events designed to keep a “human shield” between those attending the funeral of the first person killed in Wednesday’s storm. This group is still has a Facebook page; the other is NOT CANCELLED as previously reported here, but rather has pulled their Facebook page, after gathering pledges of support from thousands of Facebook fans, because they don’t want the WBC freaks to know their plans for the shield event. WBC is NOT welcome in Harrisburg and will be met, should they ever come there, with a show of silent and peaceful force. The show of support tomorrow morning at Reed Funeral Chapel, even if the WBC freaks DON’T show up, will be heartwarming and will be a community effort that should not be missed. We will be there to cover it. Wear purple, as it’s the sign of the school colors and their mascot, the Harrisburg Bulldogs.
The names of the deceased were released yesterday, March 1. They are: Mary Ruth Osman, 75, Jaylynn Ferrell, 22, Randle Earl Rann,64 and his wife Donna Mae Rann, 61, and Lynda Lou Hull, 74. We were stunned when we learned the rest of the names, as two of these fine folks, we knew, were regular readers of Disclosure, God love em. May they all rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and solace in the show of support for them in the days to come.
We’ll keep you updated as things progress; we begin work on the print version after we get home tomorrow, although Ang has more radio interviews regarding her book. Hopefully there won’t be any more tragic events for a good long while….but if they are, we’ll be right on top of them. Also, be sure to look at the new vid we have up on our YouTube channel; Chris thought he’d lost this footage in an SD card incident post-storm, but turns out he was able to recover it. It’s of rescue efforts, in particular from Marion Search and Rescue.
