SOUTHERN ILLINOIS—April showers aren’t getting the Southern Illinois Roller Girls down.
On the 5th they took on Demolition City Roller Derby’s Dolls and left with a strong victory. This is the fourth time SIRG has taken on DCRD and our 3rd win against them.
Then, THIS WEEKEND SIRG is celebrating spring with a REMATCH DOUBLE HEADER! On Saturday the 12th, the Rolling Blackouts will be taking on the Chicago Outfit’s Shakedown followed by Power SIRG taking on our sister league – the Cape Girardeau Roller Girls.
The action starts at 6 pm but you’ll want to get there early to get your place in the suicide seating, where you may catch a rollergirl in your lap. A portion of the proceeds from this bout will go to support Shriners Hospitals for Children.
If you enjoy the bout and think “Hey I could do that!” April is the right month for you- SIRG is having a recruitment camp for new skaters (lovingly called fresh meat). Recruitment is April 22nd and 24th – potential skaters must be at least 19 years old and have a helmet and mouthguard. There is limited loaner gear available as well.
Information about the bout this weekend and recruitment camp are available on SIRG’s website (www.soillrollergirls.com) as well as on their facebook page.
