CRAWFORD CO.–Last night (April 8, 2014) we received word that Jason Shadle, the man authorities were searching for Northwest of Robinson was captured; this was reported to us by a local law enforcement officer who advised that Shadle was captured late last night. But as of this morning, Sgt. Dave Marqua of the Robinson Police Department said that was miscommunication and that Shadle has NOT been captured.
A little before 8 yesterday morning, a call was received through dispatch that there was an erratic driver coming into Robinson on Route 1 A, going towards the Trimble area. The caller reported that the vehicle almost hit another vehicle head-on due to the fact that he was driving all over the roadway. Sgt. Marqua, after receiving the notice of the driver, attempted to make a stop.
Shadle then fled from Marqua, and Marqua lost sight of Shadle for a brief two minutes just northwest of Robinson and at this point made his way onto a country road and then drove off into a ditch. Some how, Shadle managed to get his vehicle out of said ditch, but was then on the side of the ditch with a field ahead.
Shadle drove for about a mile through the field, crossed a roadway and started driving through another field. Authorities had sight of him, and at one point an officer was right alongside of him and was able to positively identify Shadle.
Three squad cars ended up getting stuck in the field and Shadle decided at this point to flee his vehicle, from there, taking off on foot. When authorities arrived to his vehicle a .22 caliber weapon was located outside the vehicle and what appeared to be methamphetamine was found inside the vehicle.
Crawford County Sheriff’s Deparment, Robinson Police Department and two canines began to search for Shadle. The search continued for approximately six hours. The rain is what essentially ended the search because it was getting difficult for the canines to locate Shadle’s scent.
Shadle is still at large and there is no word on his whereabouts. He does, however, have an ex-wife who lives in Newton and police plan to make contact with her to see if she has heard from him.
Shadle currently has three warrants out for his arrest in White, Clay and Jasper counties. And right now in Crawford he could possibly facing up to eight charges thus far for the event that occurred yesterday.
Police urge that you do not come in contact with Shadle. They suspect he could be armed and dangerous. If anyone sees him call 911 immediatley.
