WAYNE CO., Ill.—A car versus deer collision last night sent two juvenile girls to the hospital in Fairfield with minor injuries.
The collision occurred on Wayne County Road (CR) 1800E, approximately four-tenths of a mile north of Wayne CR 200N on Friday, March 28, at 9:45 p.m.
A white Honda Pilot, being driven by a 16-year-old female from Fairfield, was traveling southbound on Wayne CR 1800E, approximately 4/10 of a mile north of Wayne CR 200N, when a deer entered the roadway. In an attempt to avoid striking the deer, the driver swerved to the right, causing the vehicle to exit the roadway to the west and impact a ditch before overturning.
The driver and a female juvenile passenger in the vehicle were both transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital by the Wayne County Ambulance Service for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.
Both juveniles were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. No citations were issued.
The vehicle was removed from the scene by Barry’s Towing of Fairfield.
