POPE CO., Ill.—We’ve received a report of a serious traffic accident down in Pope County.
Massac Fire is responding to a motor vehicle accident in POPE County on 145, and a lot of calls are going out for the one on 146 and 34 in Hardin, at the Eichorn area.
On the Hardin County one are Saline County EMS, Hardin County EMS and Hardin County sheriff’s department personnel.
Initial reports indicate one fatality and 4 to 5 people trapped in the POPE County accident; there are multiple people involved in the HARDIN County accident as well; our official sources in the area state that most of these in the Hardin accident are children, but there are NO fatalities in that one.
We haven’t been advised of the exact location in the POPE County accident, only that it’s close to the Fruit Belt Office, so keep checking back as we get updates.
