WAYNE CO., Ill.—Illinois State Police worked a traffic incident very early this morning (Monday, March 10, 2014) that left a truck driver injured.
Brian A. Hunter, age 44, of Lexington, Kentucky, was northbound on U.S. 45 through Wayne County at approximately 12:12 a.m. when the incident occurred at the 161 Extension (Wayne County Road 1800 N); Hunter was operating a 2013 Freightliner Truck-Tractor.
ISP reports indicate that Hunter failed to negotiate the curve (Cisne Curve) there at 45, left the east side of the roadway and overturned.
Hunter was transported from the crash scene by the North Wayne Ambulance Service to Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Fairfield, Illinois, for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash. Hunter was wearing his seatbelt, ISP reported.
Both the truck tractor and the semi-trailer received major damage and were removed from the scene by Rick’s Towing of Fairfield.
ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, North Wayne Ambulance Service, and Cisne Fire Department.
