FLORA, Ill.—Authorities are advising that a wreck that occurred at about 11 a.m. today (Thursday, February 20, 2014) has seriously injured a Clay County couple.
The two involved in the accident were Jarod and Misty Parish, ages 36 and 33 respectively.
Flora police officials have confirmed that the accident occurred approximately two miles north of town on North State Road. A dually truck being operated by one of the Parishes (we’re not certain yet which one) was southbound on that road when it struck the west guard rail of a concrete bridge. Sources close to the situation advise that the truck was going at about 60 when it went off the road, but there was no immediate cause given for the accident (as in whether they swerved to miss another car, a deer, or if the road conditions were to blame).
While both Parishes were injured severely, our sources are advising that one of them was more gravely wounded than the other: It’s been confirmed that one either lost a leg in the accident or that the leg had to be amputated in order to extricate the victim. We’re working with law enforcement right now to learn whether it was Jarod or Misty who this happened to.
Both of them were air evac’d from the area to a hospital in St. Louis.
More as we get it; keep checking back.
