CLAY CO., Ill.—We’re still trying to get ISP to come off some information about the wreck that occurred this morning on Illinois Route 50 east of Clay City.
Thus far, we’ve called Clay County Sheriff’s Department (Pat was very pleasant, as usual, but deferred to ISP), Flora City police (just in case someone was called to do mutual aid) and of course a call to District 12 in Effingham, which is who handled the wreck, and to the media line, which is where these things are supposed to land within at least a couple of hours, was completely fruitless.
What we know from passersby is that the wreck involved a Tyson semi truck and a small car, and possibly a deer running out in front of one, the other, or both, at the intersection leading to Big Four Road. The end result has been that the road has been closed for most of the day; we’re not sure whether traffic is passing through there right now or not, but we have a staffer in the area, and so maybe we’ll see.
There are no accounts of any injuries, but that could change depending on what information we ultimately receive.
We continue to try, and we really thank those official sources who have answered our calls and have been as helpful as they have been!
