WILLIAMSON CO., Ill.—Authorities this morning are confirming the arrest and charge of First Degree Murder against a young Johnston City father.
Brandon Vaughn, 22, was arrested yesterday, February 18, 2014, on a single count of First Degree Murder in the death of his infant son last October.
Reports out of Johnston City indicate that the baby’s death was due to suffocation.
Coverage of the incident last year here at the site prompted a lashing-out by the baby’s mother, Courtney Marshal, who claimed that all of our coverage was “incorrect” and “a lie,” despite it coming directly from Illinois State Police Child Death Task Force investigators and Johnston City police. She was not present at the time of the baby boy’s death, which occurred in the couple’s home.
Another child was removed from the home at the time of the infant’s death.
