WILLIAMSON CO., Ill.—The man who was spotted outside a Johnston City school with a BB gun this afternoon has been arrested on a preliminary charge of Disorderly Conduct.
Authorities are telling Disclosure that Nathan Murray, 23, of Johnston City, was walking in the vicinity of Washington School with a BB gun (displayed here in a screen grab from WSIL) and was reported to police by school officials.
The report prompted a “soft lockdown” of JC schools until the whole thing could be sorted out.
Authorities have NOT stated what it was Murray was doing that was considered “disorderly.” BB guns are generally considered toys; and while this one didn’t have an orange tip on it that would indicate it was a toy, that alone may have been enough to be considered “disorderly” conduct…however, it doesn’t exactly explain what Murray’s actions/intentions were when bearing the toy.
As it develops, we’ll bring more if we can.
