On Tuesday February 11 at 12:22pm, Olney Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1105 E Cherry St in Olney. The home is owned by Steven Miller of Calhoun and Chris Brooks was the tenant. Flames were visible with heavy black smoke upon arrival. The fire originated in the living room. There was heavy fire damage to the living room, with heat and smoke damage throughout the house. There were pet canaries that did not escape the fire. Sabrina Hollingsworth, Brooks’ girlfriend, let folks know yesterday in this post some of the items the couple needed, as they lost all their possessions in the fire. Today, we’ve been notified that for those who don’t have items to drop off, there’s been an account set up at Trust Bank in Olney to help them get back on their feet. Monetary donations can be made at or sent to Trust Bank, 600 East Main St., P.O. Box 158, Olney, Ill., 62450.
