CARBONDALE, Ill.—We’ve learned that police are currently seeking another person in connection with a shooting incident yesterday in Carbondale.
The shooting occurred at Rebound Outreach facility at Carbondale Community High School yesterday (Monday, January 27, 2014) and sent one man to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with a significant wound that was described as “life-threatening.”
A warrant for the arrest of the man sought—Omari A. Tinsley, 18, last known address listed as 806 Dorthella, Carbondale—has been issued. The warrant is on a count of Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm in the shooting of the unidentified man, who is only being described as a father of a student at Rebound, shot at the facility’s parking lot. The warrant carries a $500,000 bond.
Tinsley has been described as a black male, 5-feet-9, 190 pounds, last seen wearing a black shirt and white camouflage pants, with shoulder-length dreadlocks.
A 17-year-old was taken into custody yesterday in connection with the incident, which resulted in the lockdown of both the main campus of CCHS as well as the Rebound facility until authorities determined that the students were no longer in danger of the alleged shooters.
