WILLIAMSON CO., Ill.—The victim of the drowning accident that occurred at a residential pond in Carterville last night has been identified.
Authorities have submitted a press release, as follows:
CARTERVILLE, Ill – A 12 year old boy was pronounced dead after falling into an ice-covered pond. Justin Johnson-Stewart, 12 of Carterville was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m. January 19, 2014 at Herrin Hospital. Justin drowned after falling into an icy pond around 4:48 p.m. on Arbor Drive in Carterville. Justin and another boy were walking across the ice-covered pond when the ice fell and both boys fell into the water. Both the boys were transferred to Herrin Hospital.
