VIGO CO., Ind.—A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Indiana has sent people to the hospital, but no one has been seriously injured.
The crash occurred in Vigo County near the 12 mile marker, when a crash occurred involving an Indiana State Trooper and a private vehicle, as well as two “commercial vehicles” (semi-tractor trailers), one of whom was trapped and had to be extricated by the local fire department. His injuries were not severe, but he was taken to a local hospital.
The trooper was out on the interstate helping the motorist in the private vehicle, which was disabled; the trooper had his emergency lights on when the first semi approached and slowed, and a semi behind that one struck the first, forcing the first semi into the trooper’s cruiser. The trooper was not injured.
I-70 is closed at that stretch; authorities aren’t saying when it’ll be reopened, as Vigo, like Illinois counties to the west of it, was slammed this evening with snow.
