JACKSON CO.—The book about the 1925 Tri-State Tornado is catching on, especially in the affected areas…and Jackson County, in southwestern Illinois, was certainly one of those.
This weekend, Saturday, January 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., The Bookworm, one of the last independently-owned bookstores in downstate, will host a book signing and sales of Ang’s book Death Rides the Sky: The Story of the 1925 Tri-State Tornado. This rocks, as it’s truly an honor to have a signing in ANY bookstore but especially one owned and operated by local people. So please come out and support this event, and tell Kelly Rexroad and the store cat, Casper, how glad you are to have them in your community.

Those who are devotees of the Tri-State Tornado, the worst tornadic disaster in American history, will recall that Carbondale missed the wrath of the storm as it wreaked havoc on the southwest side of Murphysboro before spinning out to DeSoto, north of the college town of C-dale.
Carbondale came to the aid of the survivors in not only Murphysboro and DeSoto, but also the Jackson County village of Gorham over by the Mississippi River due west of the city of Murphysboro, as well as points north and east, such as Bush and Plumfield in Williamson County, and West Frankfort in Franklin County.
Ang this past Saturday at 17th Street Bar & Grill, where the signing was BUSY.
This book is becoming well-known in the “affected areas” as well as beyond, and the book tour continues with scheduled signing dates well beyond the anniversary date of March 18 of this year…but don’t miss out on an opportunity to do a little browsing from the selection of great books at The Bookworm, and get a signed copy of Death Rides the Sky this Saturday in Carbondale!
