LEAK FOUND IN ELIZABETHTOWN

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ill.—No, we’re not talking about whoever it is who’s sending us information on the doings of Hardin County’s prosecutor, Tara Cook Wallace.

2013-11-29-01-34-08-boil order_webWe’re talking about that water leak that her uncle, Bertis Cook, mayor of Elizabethtown, couldn’t get under control because it “couldn’t be found,” what with all the snow and ice and then resultant melting/thawing. This went on for days and days and DAYS, resulting in an ongoing boil order, and the near-cancellation of Hardin County High School’s Homecoming dance.

We’ve just learned that the water leak has been found, however: It’s been located out on 142 (heading toward Cave-in-Rock), at the curve and between the houses owned by the Hurfords and the Grosses.

However, the town remains under a boil order, with several residents with very little water pressure…or NO water at all.

The leak was found last Friday. But…Robinson Backhoe Service (favorite of the local bourgeoisie) is out of town. So Cook is waiting until they get back before he’ll bother to fix it. There are indeed other backhoe services in the county (Sheriff JT Fricker actually operates a backhoe, as a vocation prior to taking office, but far be it for Cook to use common sense and ask the sheriff to lend a hand)…this coming on the heels of parents raising hell last week after school had been cancelled for the aforementioned days and days and days, and becoming outraged over the fact that they’d spent money on tuxedos and gowns for the homecoming dance, which almost wasn’t held because of no restroom facilities….until someone had the idea to bring in portopotties, and then the festivities went on.

We’ll have more hopefully in the upcoming edition of Disclosure, on stands January 8…there will be TWO papers in January, in advance of the March Primary election, so don’t miss out…click this link to get your print subscription or locate our vendors, or click here to get started on your online membership so you can read the e-Edition.
