Police say an Odon man committed suicide Monday rather than face a charge of child molesting.
59-year-old Robert A. Mangus, who was the director of an online counseling ministry, was set to turn himself into the Daviess County Sherriff’s Department Monday. The Washington Times Herald reports the surrender was part of an agreement between the prosecutor’s office and Mangus’ attorney.
The paper reports the investigation began in October when a 14 year old boy told detectives about the molestation.
State police later used forensic software and recovered photos of Mangus and the boy on a computer. Cameras, computers, and other items were confiscated when police served a search warrant at Mangus’ home and a rented storage building.
