PAGE 1
LAWRENCE CO.—BATTERY CHARGED: Ever wonder what happened to the incident that occurred mid-month August and ended with a Palestine cop’s arm being perforated and his craycray babymomma jailed for two days? Here’s the outcome: Craycray charged and police lying on the reports. We’re kinda hoping she gets a good lawyer and goes after Vincennes PD….
MARION—Chief melts down: Marion police chief John Eibeck shows how mature he really is with a massive meltdown on his, and our, Facebook pages. But the big story isn’t his meltdown, nor is it the material about Steve Waterbury (which prompted the online piece that lead to Eibeck’s meltdown to begin with)…the real story is: what the hell is this guy doing on Facebook so much if he’s a police chief; and is this indicative of something a little bigger when it comes to internet use? We’re getting the answers for you, as they regard a police department that’s been plagued with some real scum the past several years…and expenditure of YOUR tax dollars.
WHITE/SALINE COs.—Judge considers dismissal of lawsuit: Here’s a piece you’re not going to find anywhere else, largely because apparently no one else knew about it, as we were the only media there and it was out of its original venue: The case of Todd Fort against Saline County State’s Attorney Mike Henshaw was argued on December 3 in Carmi, not Harrisburg. Judge Mark Stanley has taken Henshaw’s argument for dismissal of the whole case under advisement; this will be the lead-up to his decision, which could come at any time.
EFFINGHAM CO.—Murdered child’s mother charged with obstruction: Ciara DeRyke is now jailed in Effingham County, but only on an Obstruction charge. Find out what this is all about, as well as info not made available in the article we produced online when it happened, by reading this story.
SALINE CO.—Mine expansion public hearing turns explosive: Think you read all about the Cottage Grove Township mine issue in your local papers? WRONG. You didn’t read everything that happened at this meeting a little over a week ago…but now you can. Find out what’s going on with this proposal by reading this detailed article.

HARDIN CO.—Lockout of hotel looks to be another Constitutional misstep for prosecutor: What did Tara Wallace do to Sandy Vinyard at the Rose Hotel? You’re not going to believe THIS crap….but you’re going to want to read it, because you’re going to want to be prepared for what might be coming for Tara.
GALLATIN CO.—Reward being offered by family of missing woman: In-depth examination of the disappearance of Chrissy Williams from her last known location of Rosiclare, including input from her family…and why they are disturbed with Gallatin County’s response to a previous situation Chrissy, who is from Shawneetown, had.
WILLIAMSON CO.—Little movement in Franks herpes case: A lovely former Marion lady has accused the head dude of Farmers State Bank, Tom Franks, of giving her herpes. That case is wallowing through the Williamson County court system long after medical records were supposed to have been turned over. Here’s the update on the progress of it.
PAGE 2
WILLIAMSON CO.—Attorney disciplinary group reviewing racial remarks made by state’s attorney: Ol’ Chuck Garnati has enough problems going for him as state’s attorney of Williamson County without being labeled a ‘racist’…yet that’s just what’s happened, and now, the ARDC is looking into the matter. We have the whole story—much more than what other local media has told you—so you’re going to want to read this one.
PAGE 3
EDWARDS/RICHLAND CO.—Expensive cop dies during hunting season: There was a little group of people who tried to stop the publication of our paper when we first started out in March 2003. When we proved we could stand strong against their bullshit, and prevailed over all their nasty, dirty tactics they tried in order to “shut us down,” we told them we’d see all of them out of a job, or would outlive them. This article is about one of them we outlived.
EGYPT
HARDIN CO.—Drunk state’s attorney hides from cameras in Nashville, can’t pronounce ‘Disclosure’: Poor Tara Wallace. She’s so put upon. And she doesn’t have the friends she thinks she does…this evidenced by the photos we have.
HARRISBURG—Convicted sex offender busted for raising hell: About every December, Lenard Smock goes nuts and gets arrested. This one is no exception.
HARRISBURG—Website originator ‘had no idea’ about an issue with check, new site under way: There was a kind of rowdy, riled up situation at the Harrisburg city council meeting covered in this article. Read it to find out just what went down.
HARRISBURG—City clerk gets involved in invoice coverup: Not only is Sally Wofford not allowing us to see public documents, but she’s now snapping at our correspondent in the middle of meet ins when there’s a discussion about it. This is part 3 of a multi-part series about how tornado funds were spent; more to come, despite the stonewalling we’ve been getting.
HARDIN CO.—Court file materializes showing man held without formal charges, lawsuit pending: We had the piece on Robert Trigg last month, telling you how Tara “Taraism” Wallace held him in the county jail without being charged for longer than 90 days….but some documents were missing when we went to examine them in the court file. Now, we have them, so this is a follow up to that article….and there’s STILL nothing being done about one of these little faux pas’ Tara has made.
GALLATIN CO.—Serial DUI offender leads Gallatin Co. crim report: Mr. Quertermous allegedly drinks and drives his way into the headlines…along with some other local non-notables.
SALINE CO.—Latest Saline grand jury indictees number 20: The grand jury roundup that we brought you here online on December 3…for those who read the print version.
HARRISBURG—Driver gives sister’s ID, kicks door into leg: What some people will do when they want to avoid a traffic ticket.
HARRISBURG—Harrisburg duo charged with stealing car: Some of the crime roundup of Saline County other than grand jury or other specific crime.
CARRIER MILLS—Neighborhood Watch nut now has drug trafficker’s family’s support: Hey, if you’re going to be a nut and think you’re going to employ Homeland Se-cure-i-tie tactics in your little burg as a “neighborhood watch,” you’d sure WANT the support of the local cocaine mover and his fam….right?
ELDORADO—Bicycle bandit botches boost—$10K + heist at State Farm foiled: If ever there was a stupid crim story to come out of ‘rado, this is it. Priceless.
SALINE CO.—Galatia man arrested in Indy after daughter hospitalized there: Print version of the piece that appeared here a couple of weeks ago about Colten Campbell and his daughter, Aubrey.
HEARTLAND
EFFINGHAM CO.—County E-911 official demands sheriff’s resignation over radio, funding debacle; weapons situation is also at issue: Right now, Sheriff John Monnet is still sheriff in Effingham County. How long that will continue remains to be seen…and you’ll understand why after you read this article.
CRAWFORD CO.—Official input on nursing home closure has owner retiring: Update on a piece we were working December 13, regarding a Robinson nursing home and what was going on there on that day.
NEWTON—Zoning changes in Newton prompt concern for local man with adjoining property issue: The expansion of the Tax Increment Financing issue (TIF) continues in Newton, where there are no blighted areas being improved upon, just like most other places in downstate Illinois that get TIF benefits.
EDGAR CO.—Long-time manager of airport resigns three weeks after terroristic act on aircraft: The resignation of Jimmy Wells is covered, along with a continuation of the timeline of events—much of it downright shocking—leading up to the death of pilot Rusty Bogue.
ROBINSON—Zoning code violations, enforcing smoking law and the Santa Train addressed at Robinson meetings: The headline says it all.
CENTRAL
LAWRENCE CO.—Lawrence Co. sheriff battle shaping up: Remarkably (NOT) there’s someone to crawl out of the woodwork to challenge former sheriff Dennis Bridwell in the Primary in March…and the challenger has even switched parties in order to do it, surprise surprise.
WHITE CO.—Targeting of doctor series: Part two of the backstory behind what REALLY happened to Dr. Jogendra Chhabra after his case began working its way through court…and how one irresponsible Illinois State Police “agent” was behind it all.
LAWRENCE CO.—Will Westall’s plea come on same day as McQueen sentencing?: Nothing like action in the piece happening four days later (Friday, Dec. 20) to make the article obsolete, but material in it is interesting: what will Helen Marie Westall’s trial look like?
RICHLAND CO.—County board seems timid at meeting: After a somewhat raucous county board meeting last month, December’s Richland County board meeting was tame by comparison…but still has good info for taxpayers.
RICHLAND CO.—Homeless man fights with cops; meth at TNT: The return of the bizarrely-tattooed Seth Whalen, and some other alleged crime activity in Richland.
RICHLAND CO.—Pair charged with having empty blister packs inside their car with child present: One of the very weird charges David Hyde has been issuing against Richland County residents lately. When you read the piece, you’ll see how this one is a stretch.
WABASH CO.—Four busted in meth operation, pregnant woman hit in the nose: The Wabash County general crim roundup.
CLAY CO.—Felon charged with meth and weapon possession: The general crim roundup for Clay County.
WAYNE CO.—Vehicles broken into, meth and sex crimes to Wayne blotter: The general crim roundup for Wayne County, where we’re seeing some repeat offenders.
CLAY CO.—Charged with drugs and punching juvenile: The general crim/drug and violence roundup in Clay.
OLNEY—Final decisions on tax levy in Olney; O’Neill throws a fit as he is removed from meeting: Probably Olney mayor Ray Vaughn should have taken this action early on, but apparently he wanted to give the smelly Brian James O’Neill an opportunity to “clean up his act,” as it were….and then, there’s the tax increase due to pensions….
HAMILTON CO.—Driver in fatal crash charged with reckless homicide: The update on the Delong crash/deaths for our print readers; plus other HamCo crim roundup.
