LAWRENCE CO., Ill.—The website for Lawrence County Community Unit School District 20 is down this evening, and our sources are advising that it’s because of this message:
We have been in touch with Lawrence County law enforcement, and they have explained the situation. Apparently, there were some threats made toward a couple of students specifically, and law enforcement became involved and spoke with everyone, including the juvenile who allegedly made the threat, as well as the students toward whom the threat was directed, and the pertinent school authorities. The juvenile is no longer considered a threat at this time, according to law enforcement, and everything has been resolved. However, if the school chooses to take precautionary measures as indicated above, that’s their prerogative, and it will be done with the students’ and faculty’s safety in mind.
We thank the parents who alerted us to this situation, and hope that this post helps everybody involved…again, law enforcement has advised that there is no present threat, and if the school opts to take any extra measures at this point, it’s only out of an abundance of caution.
