Hamilton County, IL - One woman was injured, and a construction worker was nearly struck in an accident in a construction zone at Illinois Route 14.
The wreck occured at 11:01AM today, Wednesday December 4, on Illinois Route 14 near Hamilton County Road 1575E. According to an Illinois State Police press release, Allan E. Foran, 38, of Belleville had stopped his GMC truck in a marked construction zone in which he was working, and had activated his hazard lights when another driver struck the rear end of his vehicle.
The driver who hit Foran’s vehicle was Karen D. Miller, 42, of Mt. Vernon, who was driving a 2005 Toyota Rav 4. Miller failed to reduce her speed to avoid the accident before hitting Foran’s truck.
Miller was taken to Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro for treatment of her injuries that were sustained due to the accident. Foran reported no injuries.
Another worker, who has been identified as Cole A. Greenfield, 25, of Belleville was standing on the running board of the GMC truck was nearly struck, but was able to jump off the truck and avoid injury.
Miller was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
