WABASH COUNTY – On Friday, November 29, 2013, a Mt. Carmel Police Officer observed a black Toyota Corolla traveling 56 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The MCPD Officer initiated a vehicle stop, the vehicle accelerated and began to travel at a high rate of speed. The officer then initiated the squad cars lights and sirens but the driver refused to stop.
The vehicle finally stopped just north of Patton.
The driver was identified as 32 year old Brandon S. McCaslin of Sumner, Illinois.
The MCPD Officer reported smelling an alcoholic beverage smell coming from McCaslin’s person. McCaslin submitted to field sobriety testing and failed those tests.
McCaslin was subsequently arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail, where he was cited for speeding, DUI, and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.
McCaslin was released after posting $500.00 bond.
