Saline County, IL - Saturday, November 30, eyewitnesses at Southeastern Illinois College saw what appeared to be a high speed chase, but when Disclosure reached out to Saline County Authorities, details were quickly sealed off.
Disclosure initially received reports that a pickup truck was seen passing by the college at a very high rate of speed, and was soon followed by a police cruiser. Eye witnesses reported that the cruiser was also driving at a very high speed, and had its lights and sirens activated. It appeared to be the unmarked white 4-door cruiser that belongs to Harrisburg Police Department.
Now, Authorities have came forward with the story of what happened that day.
A police officer had initiated a traffic stop of a pickup truck that had a busted windshield. When the officer initiated the stop, the driver of the truck took off, and the pursuit began.
The chase first lead through the car lots of Jim Hayes Inc., where the driver came within feet of striking Dustin Zeller, a salesman who was working in the car lots. Zeller reported that he had to quickly move between the cars on the lot to avoid being struck.
The driver of the truck then took off in the fields behind the car dealership, and led officers through the fields and then onto the roads, traveling in excess of 90 miles per hour. Officers pursued the truck for some time, leading past SIC at one point, but eventually lost track of the truck.
The man who lead officers on the chase could not identify the driver, who at this point remains at large.
