GALLATIN CO.—Family members have confirmed the death of a woman in the village of Ridgway in Gallatin County.
Our law enforcement sources outside of Ridgway have confirmed that at some point in time between 7 and 8 p.m., a call was made to Ridgway authorities about a possible suicide. The responding officer (new police officer Brittany Webb) arrived, reportedly to St. Joseph Road and, according to one report, in the vicinity of a cemetery, and found a female with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The coroner was called shortly thereafter.
Disclosure has been in contact with friends of the family, who have advised that the female (whose identity is being held pending notification of the family) had recently been sick and believed she might be suffering cancer. She retrieved one of her husband’s weapons and left the house with it. She was believed to have been missing by afternoon, when her husband was unable to contact her, but was discovered by the aforementioned officer.
Illinois State Police Zone 5 investigators arrived at Ridgway PD when Disclosure was present early this morning (Saturday, November 16, around midnight) and advised that they are handling the death investigation.
