OBLONG (CRAWFORD CO.)—Students at Oblong schools in Crawford County have been told that their band teacher has “family issues” and will “need to be gone for awhile” after the man was charged in neighboring Indiana with crimes related to having sexual conduct with an underage person.
We have confirmed that Robert P. Yeley, 24, the band instructor in question, has turned himself in to Indiana authorities in Morgan County as of today (Wednesday, September 18, 2013), has posted bond, and has been released.
The charges against him were filed on Sept. 12, and involve Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Class C felony, and Child Seduction, a Class D felony. The victim is reported to have been 15 years old at the time; it’s unclear how far the charges date back right now, as we’re still obtaining information. Yeley has, however, been at Oblong for about a year and a half.
More as we get it; check back, and watch the pages of the print version, which is out in just two weeks, as this might be followed a little more closely there.
