SPRINGFIELD—Yet another Illinois House Republican says he won’t seek a second full term in 2014.

Rep. Brad Halbrook says he will leave when his term ends in January 2015 to spend more time with his family. The 52-year-old businessman from Charleston said Monday he made his decision last spring when his 78-year-old father had a medical emergency.
Halbrook is the latest in a string of House Republicans that have determined they will not return to the Capitol after the 2014 election, choosing to retire, leave the state, or run for other offices instead. Former Minority Leader Tom Cross, State Reps. Darlene Senger, Mike Bost and Jil Tracy are running for other offices in 2014. State Rep Kay Hatcher, Jim Sacia and Halbrook are retiring and State Rep. Pam Roth moved to Texas with her family last month.
