SALINE CO.—A convicted arsonist in Harrisburg is headed to DOC.
John W. (Bub) Lutwinski, 43, of Harrisburg, has entered a guilty plea and was sentenced today (September 6, 2013) in Saline County circuit court to 12 years in Illinois Department of Corrections, three years mandatory supervised release (parole) and restitution and costs.
Lutwinski’s plea was to Residential Arson, a Class 1 felony, in an incident dating back to October 2010. During the investigation, conducted by Harrisburg Police, officers learned that Lutwinski had taken a bottle filled with gas, lit it with a rag and threw it under the trailer located at 119 Michigan Street in Harrisburg. the trailer caught fire and sustained minor damage. The owner of the trailer was able to put out the fire.
Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Olson lead the successful prosecution of Lutwinski.
Lutwinski’s family raised all kinds of hell with Disclosure following the incident, which we covered in full in the November 2010 issue (not available online).
