REND LAKE—Authorities are still searching an area of Rend Lake this evening after a young woman was reported to have gone into the water and not resurfaced.
Our sources at the scene have reported that the young woman is 18 years of age and was with a group of other young people on a pontoon boat out on the water when she went in.
It’s unclear the circumstances of how or why she went into the water (swimming, diving, fell in, etc.); authorities have not revealed the nature of it yet. They also have not revealed her name; however, at least two sources have confirmed for us that she is reported to be from the Carmi (White County) area.
When we learn more, we’ll bring it.
